Dear Edgemont Neighbors,
The Greenburgh Town Code requires all residents to clear snow and ice off their sidewalks within 24 hours. The ECC encourages all residents to be neighborly and clear sidewalks for pedestrians and school children ahead of the morning commute (even if it falls within the 24-hour window). As a reminder, school starts at 8:30 am.
If you are elderly or have mobility challenges and need assistance clearing your sidewalk, please reach out to the Greenburgh Snow Angels leadership: Noah Seifer (914-365-0839), Joey Belarge (914-314-4523), or Joe Siegal (917-612-3704) or email them at greenburghsnowangels@gmail.com.
If you have a teenager who is interested in volunteering to be a Snow Angel, please have them sign up using this form: http://tinyurl.com/GBSnowAngels
Sincerely,
Dylan F. Pyne
President, The Edgemont Community Council
For your reference, Article V, Section 430-15 of the Greenburgh Town Code states, “The landowner of any property abutting any street, highway or road in the Town [of Greenburgh] and the occupant of any premises where a sidewalk or pedestrian walkway has been installed are required to keep the sidewalk bordering the property or premises free and clear of snow, ice, dirt or other obstructions within 24 hours after an obstruction is created. In the event that the obstruction cannot be removed without damaging the sidewalk, the use of salt and/or ashes is permitted to the extent otherwise permitted by law.”
