At its May 28, 2025 meeting, the Greenburgh Town Board adopted two new resolutions (linked below) furthering the ECC’s ongoing public safety advocacy efforts and priorities as identified in the ECC’s October 2023 Traffic and Safety Report and reinforced by community feedback and engagement.
Resolution PO 3 improves safety at the intersection of Glendale Road and Longview Drive by prohibiting parking within 30 feet of the intersection on the east side of Glendale Road. Sight distance concerns at this location had raised safety risks for drivers and pedestrians alike. This new “No Parking Here to Corner” restriction directly responds to those concerns and creates a clearer and safer travel path.
Resolution PO 6 authorizes the installation of a stop sign on Thomas Lane at its intersection with Old Army Road. This intersection has been the subject of increased community attention after a recent traffic incident at this intersection earlier this month highlighted driver confusion regarding right-of-way. Once installed, the new stop sign will clarify that vehicles traveling northbound on Thomas Lane must yield to cross traffic on Old Army Road, enhancing safety and predictability for all users of the intersection.
The Edgemont Community Council supports these safety improvements and thanks the Town Board for its adoption of these resolutions. We also extend our gratitude to the Town Board, the Greenburgh Police Department, and the Town staff for their continued collaboration with the ECC Public Safety Committee, led by ECC Director Paul Wooten.
When we work together, we make our community a safer place for all residents.
Sincerely,
Dylan F. Pyne
President, The Edgemont Community Council
