Opportunity for Edgemont Students: Westchester County Summer Fellowship

Dear Edgemont Neighbors,

The Edgemont Community Council is excited to share an opportunity for local students interested in public service and leadership. Westchester County is now accepting applications for its Summer Volunteer Fellowship Program, which offers both college and high school students the chance to gain hands-on experience working with County government.

Through the program, fellows will get a behind-the-scenes look at how Westchester County operates while working alongside full-time government professionals. Participants will assist with research and policy analysis on issues facing the County, help prepare proposals for the County Executive’s senior leadership team, and support the planning of public-facing events and initiatives. In past years, fellows have even developed policy ideas that were later adopted by the County.

The program provides a valuable opportunity for students to build professional skills, develop leadership experience, and explore careers in government and public service. Alumni of the fellowship have gone on to roles in local and state government, including positions within Westchester County itself.

Scheduling is flexible, with remote work options available. Fellows are expected to work a minimum of three days per week between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Recent college graduates and high school seniors seeking a senior alternative during May and June are also encouraged to apply.
Students interested in learning more or applying are encouraged to reach out to Copernicus Crane, Deputy Director of Intergovernmental Relations, at ccrane@westchestercountyny.gov.

This is a great opportunity for Edgemont students who are interested in civic engagement, public policy, and community leadership to gain meaningful experience this summer. The ECC encourages eligible students to consider applying.

Sincerely,
Dylan F. Pyne
