ECC Congratulates Joy Batashoff Thaler on Greenburgh Town Board Recognition

Dear Neighbors,

The Edgemont Community Council proudly congratulates longtime Edgemont resident Joy Batashoff Thaler on being recognized by the Greenburgh Town Board at its July 9th meeting for her outstanding contributions to our broader community.

Joy, a resident in the Longview neighborhood of Edgemont for 21 years, is the founder of The Pod by CocoaCompassion, a social-impact chocolate company and progressive community space in Dobbs Ferry. At its meeting yesterday, the Town Board honored Joy for her generous support of the Community Center Without Walls 2025 Poetry Series, including donating space, staff, and time to help bring this civic-minded youth program to life.

The Poetry Series, a collaboration between Community Center Without Walls, The Pod, and Westchester County Poet Laureate Phylisha Villanueva, is designed to foster youth leadership, engagement, and expression through the arts. Joy’s partnership and leadership were essential to its success.

Her work, which merges ethical entrepreneurship with mental health and community wellness, is a powerful example of how local residents continue to make a difference both in and beyond Edgemont.

Please join us in celebrating Joy’s well-deserved recognition and in thanking her for all she does to build a stronger, more connected community.

Sincerely,
Dylan Pyne
President, Edgemont Community Council
