ECC Congratulates Trustees Fleischhauer, Paidas, and Lin; Welcomes BOE President Grace Lin and VP Heather Stern Following 2025 Organizational Meeting

The Edgemont Community Council congratulates all those who were sworn in and elected to new leadership roles during the Edgemont Board of Education Organizational Meeting held on Monday, July 14, 2025.

At the meeting, Grace Lin, Mark Fleischhauer, and Elyse Paidas took their oaths of office as Trustees. Grace Lin begins her second term on the Board, while Mark Fleischhauer and Elyse Paidas were sworn in for their first terms. We extend our sincere appreciation to all three for stepping up to serve our schools and community.

The ECC also proudly congratulates Maya Barmecha, a rising Edgemont High School senior, who was sworn in as one of this year’s student representatives to the Board. Maya’s voice will play a valuable role in ensuring that the perspectives and needs of Edgemont students are represented in district discussions. Rising junior Juliet Sayer will serve alongside her as the second student representative, but was not present to be sworn in at the Organizational Meeting.

In addition to welcoming new and returning trustees, the Board held its annual leadership elections. Grace Lin was elected President of the Board of Education and Heather Stern was elected Vice President.

In nominating Grace, Trustee Ami Patel Song shared: “Grace, you bring tremendous leadership skills to the table — you listen deeply, follow through consistently, and most importantly, you hold yourself and others to high expectations. Your commitment to collaboration and integrity in decision-making, with remarkable self-awareness, curiosity, strategic thinking, and a drive to keep learning and improving is a model for all of us.”

BOE President Lin, in her first act as Board President, nominated Heather Stern for BOE Vice President, stating: “Her engineering-driven focus on facts, data, and outcomes keeps us on task. Her ability to constantly incorporate new inputs as conversations develop is really central to ensuring that our work is always fully informed.”

The Edgemont Community Council thanks all members of the School Board for their service. We look forward to continued collaboration in support of greater communication, engagement, and excellence in our school district.

Sincerely,
Dylan F. Pyne
President, Edgemont Community Council
