Dear Edgemont Neighbors,
As a result of the Edgemont Community Council’s continued advocacy for pedestrian safety improvements, the Town of Greenburgh is preparing to submit a grant application to the New York State Department of Transportation under the 2025 Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP). The application, due March 12, 2026, seeks funding for a range of transportation and pedestrian enhancements along Central Park Avenue, including new sidewalks, a crosswalk at the existing post office traffic signal, drainage improvements, ADA-compliant curb ramps, pavement markings, and related safety upgrades.
The proposal would address longstanding gaps in the Central Park Avenue sidewalk network, including those affecting Edgemont (as highlighted in Graphics 1–4 below), as well as additional segments in the Hartsdale portion of the Town. This is the same TAP program that previously awarded funding to the Town for the Old Army Road sidewalk project, which is currently in the design phase.
Town staff have noted that the strong and unified support mobilized by the ECC and Edgemont residents was a meaningful factor in securing the Old Army Road grant award. Similar expressions of community support for the Central Park Avenue project will strengthen this application as well.
The Edgemont Community Council encourages residents to submit letters of support for the Central Park Avenue TAP application by Wednesday, March 4. To express your support of the Central Park Avenue TAP Grant, please click this link, which will direct you to an email template you can customize with your name and why you think improvements to Central Park Avenue will benefit the community.
The ECC thanks the Town Board for its continued partnership in making Edgemont safer and more walkable for all. We look forward to working together on this and other traffic and safety improvements. Residents with additional feedback or suggestions regarding traffic and pedestrian safety are encouraged to contact us at Safety@EdgemontECC.org.
Sincerely,
Dylan F. Pyne
President, The Edgemont Community Council
