The purpose of Edgemont’s SBNC is to produce the best qualified people to serve the community on the Edgemont School Board. The SBNC process is designed to:
-Encourage qualified residents to make themselves available to serve on the Edgemont Board of Education (“School Board”);
-Establish a fair and judicious means for the evaluation and recommendation of candidates for the School Board; and
-Make campaigning less necessary or less likely by ensuring a fair and open nomination process
The commitment of members of the SBNC amounts to five monthly in-person committee meetings between October and February, one to three days of interviews in March depending on how many nominees are nominated by the community, and attending in-person three Tuesday evening BOE meetings between September-March (out of 10+ opportunities). Additionally, members are expected to participate in the identification and recruitment of potential nominees.
Specifically, the ECC Nominating Committee is seeking residents from the following neighborhoods for next year: (Edgemont Neighborhood Map – https://edgemontecc.org/neighborhoods)
- 3 representatives from the Central Park Avenue neighborhood (2 voting and 1 alternate)
- 2 representatives from the Cotswold neighborhood (1 voting and 1 alternate)
