EDGEMONT APPROVES SCHOOL BUDGET

Edgemont voters tonight approved the proposed 2016-2017 school budget by a vote of 355 to 88.  The tax rate will increase by 2.74%.

While the margin of approval was once again in excess of 80%, voter turnout itself was lower than it has been in recent years.  However, that may have been because many evening commuters were unable to get home in time to vote tonight because of a major fire underneath a Metro North overpass that shut down all train traffic out of the city.

Edgemont voters also elected three new members to the board of education:  Ken Orce, Alex Clarke and Judy Seiff.
