Important Dates & Information For Upcoming Democratic Primary Election

Dear Edgemont Residents,

Civic participation is the cornerstone of our democracy. Having a strong voter turnout from Edgemont is one way that Edgemont is able to influence change and strengthen the advocacy efforts of the Edgemont Community Council. Please take note of the important information and deadlines below about the upcoming Democratic Primary Election on June 25, 2024. There is no Republican Party or any other party primary for voters in Edgemont this year.

Who can vote?

You are only allowed to vote in the primary election for your respective political party. ONLY registered voters enrolled in the Democratic Party can vote in the 2024 CD-16 and District Attorney Democratic Primary Election. 

Can I still register to vote?

If you are not currently registered to vote in Westchester, you can register up until June 15, 2024 and select a political party upon registration. You may register at the Westchester Board of Elections at 25 Quarropas Street in White Plains or any state agency participating in the National Voter Registration Act, on any business day throughout the year but, to be eligible to vote in the State and Local Primary Election, your application must be received no later than June 15, 2024. What is Early Voting?

Early voting for the 2024 Democratic Primary Election is a nine (9) day period where voters can vote in-person before Election Day in Westchester County.

When can I vote early?

Early Voting in New York State will begin prior to the June 25th Democratic Primary Election. The early voting period will be from Saturday, June 15, 2024 through Sunday, June 23, 2024.

  • Saturday, June 15, 2024 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
  • Sunday, June 16, 2024 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
  • Monday, June 17, 2024 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
  • Tuesday, June 18, 2024 from 12 p.m. until 8 p.m.
  • Wednesday, June 19, 2024 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
  • Thursday, June 20, 2024 from 12 p.m. until 8 p.m.
  • Friday, June 21, 2024 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
  • Saturday, June 22, 2024 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
  • Sunday, June 23, 2024 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.

How will I vote during early voting?

Voting during early voting is the same as voting on Election Day. When you get to the early voting center, you will check in to vote, receive your ballot and vote as any other election.

There will be instructions available at the early voting centers to familiarize you with the ballot.  There will also be a notice to voter and bill of rights.  You may ask an election inspector to explain how to vote, or if you need any assistance.

If you vote during the early voting period, you are not eligible to vote on Election Day.

When will early voting results be posted?

Early voting results will be canvassed and reported after 9 pm on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 for the Federal/State and Local Primary Election.

Where do I vote on Election Day – June 25, 2024?

Election day voting will take place at your normal poling place. To look up your polling place please visit https://citizenparticipation.westchestergov.com/find-polling-place.

Can I still vote by an early vote by mail ballot?
Yes.  Any registered voter in Westchester County may apply for an early mail ballot. To learn more about how to request an early mail ballot please visit https://citizenparticipation.westchestergov.com/voting/request-an-election-ballot. The deadline to request a mail ballot is June 15, 2024. Mail ballots must be postmarked by June 25, 2024.

Can I still vote by absentee ballot?
Yes.  If you are out of your home county, or if you are permanently or temporarily disabled, ill or are the primary care giver for one or more people who are ill or physically disabled, or a resident of a Veterans Hospital, or detained in jail awaiting Grand Jury action or incarcerated for an offense other than a felony you may apply for an absentee ballot. The deadline to request a mail ballot is June 15, 2024. Mail ballots must be postmarked by June 25, 2024.

While the Edgemont Community Council has a policy not to endorse specific candidates, we encourage all eligible residents to participate in the election process.
