There’s still time to register for the 6th Annual Edgemont MLK Day Walk, hosted by the Edgemont Community Council and Volunteer New York!, and coordinated by Edgemont High School 9th graders Maaran Song, Arjun Gupta, Shouei Yoo, and Vivaan Gupta, taking place on Monday, January 19, from 10:00–12:30 PM in the San Marco Gym at Edgemont Jr.–Sr. High School.
This meaningful community tradition honors Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy of service, justice, and collective action by bringing neighbors together for reflection, movement, and hands-on service.
This year, we are excited to gather indoors before and after the walk and to offer a family-friendly community service component for all ages. Following the walk, participants will work together on service projects supporting the Thomas Slater Center, Lifting Up Westchester, and Meals on Wheels Scarsdale, helping neighbors of all ages across our community.
Advance registration is strongly encouraged. While walk-ins are welcome, please register now at https://www.volunteernewyork.org/opportunity/a07Nr00001We1xEIAR/walk-serve-in-honor-of-mlk-edgemont-community to help us plan appropriately for the service-learning portion of the morning. Registration requires creating a Volunteer New York! volunteer account, which allows you to sign up for this event and provides access to hundreds of volunteer opportunities across Westchester County.
Families are also encouraged to bring donations such as canned tuna, cereal, oatmeal packets, mayonnaise, granola bars, and crackers.
We look forward to welcoming you on January 19 as we come together to honor Dr. King through service, community, and collective action.
