SBNC Rules Revision Committee Seeks Community Input

A committee to update the bylaws of the Edgemont School Board Nominating Committee (SBNC) is seeking input from the community.

About the SBNC: By way of background, for decades the SBNC (which is sponsored by the ECC) has been charged with producing the best qualified people to serve on the Edgemont School Board. They do so through a process designed to (1) encourage qualified residents to serve, (2) establish a fair and judicious means for evaluating and recommending candidates, and (3) make campaigning less necessary or less likely by ensuring a fair process for nomination.

About the SBNC Rules Revision Committee: The SBNC Rules Revision Committee is charged with recommending updates to the SBNC bylaws. The SBNC bylaws have not been updated since 1994. (Prior to that, they were generally updated every few years.) At its annual meeting last spring, the ECC membership voted to establish the committee, which, per SBNC rules, is composed of recent members of the SBNC from each designating organization and chaired by the most recent chair of the SBNC.

Community members who have suggestions of updates to the SBNC bylaws can email committee chair David Stern at dstern@sternconsulting.com. The existing SBNC bylaws can be found online at www.tinyurl.com/SBNC94. The committee is planning to begin assessing recommendations the second week of December.
