Thank you to everyone who joined us this past Saturday for the 2025 Edgemont Community Council (ECC) Day of Service at the Nature Center at Greenburgh. Your time, energy, and commitment made this a meaningful and productive day — and a powerful reflection of our shared values.
In partnership with the Nature Center’s dedicated staff, our volunteers worked diligently to remove invasive plant species from approximately a quarter-acre of the preserve’s most heavily used forest area. While we can’t say exactly how many pounds were hauled away, volunteers filled at least 10 wheelbarrows— an impressive amount that will go a long way toward protecting the young forest stand planted just last year and preserving critical wildlife habitat.
We’re also thrilled to share that, thanks to those who purchased tickets to the lunch and animal program, we raised $475 in support of the Nature Center. These funds will directly benefit ongoing preserve maintenance and the care of their animal ambassadors. If you would like join the ECC in supporting the Nature Center at Greenburgh this year, please visit https://naturecentergb.org/donate/ to make a gift.
Special thanks to Chloe Koval and the entire Nature Center team for their leadership and hospitality, and to all the volunteers who rolled up their sleeves or supported this effort in other ways. We look forward to building on this partnership.
On behalf of the ECC, thank you again for helping us strengthen community through service.
With appreciation,
Sincerely,
Dylan F. Pyne
