Civic participation is the cornerstone of our democracy. Having a strong voter turnout from Edgemont is one way that Edgemont is able to influence change and strengthen the advocacy efforts of the Edgemont Community Council.
Polls open at 6AM and close at 9PM today – Tuesday, November 7th.
If you are unsure of your local polling place, please visit https://citizenparticipation.westchestergov.com/find-polling-place.
Please note if you normally vote at the Greenville Firehouse, your polling location has moved to the Greenville School due to a recent flood at the Firehouse.
While the Edgemont Community Council has a policy not to endorse specific candidates, we encourage all eligible residents to participate in the election process.
Also on the ballot are two propositions.
The first will remove small city school districts from special constitutional debt limitation. Edgemont is not a small city school district, so this measure will have no impact on Edgemont. However, because it would amend the State constitution it must be voted on statewide.
The second will extend for 10 years an exception to the debt limits for counties and municipalities. If approved, their limits would continue to exclude bond debt taken on for costly sewer projects. Excluding sewer projects from debt limits creates borrowing room for counties and municipalities to tackle other capital expenses.
Voting is not just a privilege; it’s a responsibility and a powerful tool for change.
Sincerely,
Dylan F. Pyne
President, The Edgemont Community Council
