Dear Edgemont Community,
As an update to our communication earlier this morning regarding the water main break, the Westchester County Department of Health has issued a Boil Water Advisory for impacted areas in the Town of Greenburgh, including portions of Edgemont.
The advisory is being issued as a precautionary measure following the water main break and related repairs, due to the potential for groundwater infiltration into the water system during periods of reduced water pressure. The Westchester County Department of Health is actively working with the Town of Greenburgh and its water operators to monitor conditions, support repair efforts, and conduct required water quality testing.
The Boil Water Advisory will remain in effect at least through Tuesday, January 20, 2026, and until further notice, pending test results and official confirmation that the water supply is safe.
Affected areas include customers served by Greenburgh Consolidated Water District #1, generally encompassing areas between Central Park Avenue, the Sprain Brook Parkway, and the Bronx River Parkway, including portions of the Central Park Avenue corridor and surrounding residential streets.
All tap water should be brought to a rolling boil for at least one minute before being used for drinking, cooking, preparing food, brushing teeth, or washing dishes by hand. The advisory does not apply to bathing, showering, washing clothes, or using a dishwasher.
Updates will be provided by the Town of Greenburgh and the Greenburgh Consolidated Water District #1 as they become available. Residents with questions or concerns may contact Greenburgh Consolidated Water District #1 at (914) 989-1900 or the Westchester County Health Department at (914) 813-5000.
Thank you to County Legislator David Imamura, Supervisor Paul Feiner, and Councilwoman Joy Haber for reaching out and for keeping the Edgemont Community Council — and through us, the Edgemont community — well informed as this situation continues to unfold.
We appreciate everyone’s continued patience and cooperation and will share additional updates as soon as more information is available.
Sincerely,
Dylan F. Pyne
President, The Edgemont Community Council
