Update on Edgemont’s New Pre-Kindergarten Program

Dear Edgemont Neighbors,

As a follow-up to our May 22 communication, the Edgemont Community Council is pleased to share an update on the launch of Edgemont’s new full-day Universal Pre-Kindergarten program for the 2025–2026 school year.

The District received 32 applications for the program, which will offer 21 seats in partnership with the YMCA of Central and Northern Westchester. As a result, 11 families have been placed on the waitlist.

Families selected in the lottery have been notified with instructions on how to accept their seat. Waitlisted families have also received guidance regarding next steps should additional seats become available.

On behalf of the community, the ECC extends sincere thanks to our State Senator, Andrea Stewart-Cousins, Majority Leader of the New York State Senate, for her leadership in securing the state funding that makes high-quality pre-K programs like this one possible. Her efforts are helping expand access to early childhood education across New York, including here in Edgemont.

Sincerely,
Dylan F. Pyne
President, Edgemont Community Council
