Nonprofit Spotlight: Scarsdale Edgemont Family Counseling Service

Scarsdale Edgemont Family Counseling Service is a voluntary, not-for-profit family counseling Agency that has provided service since 1920 to those who live or work in the Scarsdale and Edgemont area.

Their mission is to be a center for family growth and learning, a place where families, couples, and individuals can find help with the normal problems of daily living, as well as crises, to enhance the functioning of the family and its individual members through family life education; to stimulate social thinking and action to better social conditions; and to cooperate with other organizations for this purpose.

Scarsdale Edgemont Family Counseling Service is an accredited and nationally recognized family service agency that has been an anchor in the community for more than a century, providing counseling services and assistance to families and individuals at all stages of life. SFCS believes that “Families Matter” and that healthy families are the cornerstone of a healthy community. 

SFCS helps families address day-to-day challenges, including depression, anxiety, behavioral issues, and financial stress, and to work through life transitions, including adolescence, divorce, aging parents, and more.  Their highly qualified professional staff provides clinical services to individuals, couples, and families in a confidential and comfortable setting.  We employ a family systems approach throughout all our programs, looking at people not just as individuals but as part of a multi-generational system. 

Their innovative programs include outreach to youth and families, parent support groups, youth leadership development, alcohol, and other drug prevention, family, community, and relationship violence prevention, specialized therapeutic services for children, support for residents who wish to age in place as well as individual, couple and family counseling modalities.
