Dear Edgemont Community,
We are writing to share an urgent update regarding a water main break impacting Edgemont residents.
The Town of Greenburgh has confirmed two major water main breaks in the vicinity of Central Park Avenue and Marion Avenue. As a result, residents may experience very low or no water pressure, and there is significant water in the roadway. Greenburgh Police are on scene, and the Town Water Department is en route and giving this situation priority attention. Traffic disruptions along Central Avenue are expected. The Greenville Fire Department is arranging mutual aid tanker standby as a precaution in the event of an emergency situation.
At this time, residents are strongly advised to conserve water and limit usage to essential needs only while crews work to isolate and repair the breaks. Residents should not do laundry or run washing machines, as silt and sediment from the water main break may enter the system and could damage appliances or stain clothing.
Once the water main is repaired, residents should expect that water may initially appear discolored. When service is restored, please allow your water to run for approximately 20 minutes until it clears. This is normal following a water main break.
The Town has indicated that repairs are typically resolved the same day and has emphasized that this issue is being treated as a priority. We will share additional updates as more information becomes available.
Thank you for your patience, caution, and cooperation.
Sincerely,
Dylan F. Pyne
President, The Edgemont Community Council
