WATER MAIN BREAK UPDATE: Boil Water Advisory Testing Underway – Results Expected Today

Greenburgh DPW Commissioner Rich Fon has shared an update from the Westchester County Health Department regarding required water quality testing associated with the Boil Water Advisory.

As part of the advisory, the County is required to conduct two rounds of bacteriological sampling, consisting of ten samples per round. The second round must be collected at least 24 hours after the first.

The first sample, taken at the main break site, was collected on Monday at 7:30 PM and has come back negative. A second sample at that location was collected yesterday, with results expected today.

In addition, nine samples were collected yesterday from three impacted areas within the distribution system and delivered to the lab. Results from those samples are also expected today.

The Westchester County Health Department has advised that if all ten sample results from today’s testing are negative, the Boil Water Advisory may be lifted later today.

We will continue to share updates as soon as additional information becomes available.

Sincerely,
