ECC Coronavirus Assistance

We realize what a difficult time this and that no one is left unaffected by this pandemic. However, in our community, the burden on some is greater than others. In particular, some of our more high risk neighbors, particularly seniors, chronically ill, pregnant women, etc, are forced to put themselves at risk and wait in long lines at grocery stores. Others have taken the responsible action to self quarantine, but are no longer able to get out to pick up food, prescriptions, etc. This has caused demand for online grocery delivery to swell and they’re not able to keep up with the load, resulting in week long waits for a delivery slot.

The ECC would like to announce that we’re setting up a community connect to help those in need of assistance. We’ll coordinate and match volunteers with those neighbors that can’t go out to procure groceries and medical supplies/prescriptions. We ask for your help with this in a few ways:

1. If you need help, please let us know.
2. You all know your streets and neighbors best, so please check in on them. If there’s someone who needs help but isn’t connected via traditional channels, please let us know and we’ll add them to the registry.
3. If you’re healthy, please volunteer to make a run to store.

If you’d like to participate, please send your name and address to edgemontcommunitycouncil@gmail.com so we can match by proximity. All information will be kept strictly confidential and we’ll directly connect volunteers with those who need assistance. Also, safety is our paramount concern, so we’ll require all deliveries are left on the front-step to avoid direct contact.

The predictions show the worst of this lies ahead so let’s come together and get prepared ahead of time. This virus forces us all to isolate ourselves and disconnect from our neighbors, but let’s make sure no one is forgotten. We appreciate your help making sure all members of our community are taken care of in this trying time.

Thank you & please stay safe,
ECC
