ECC Launches Longview Pollinator Garden Project - First Volunteer Planting Day on 6/6

Dear Edgemont Neighbors,

The ECC is excited to announce the revitalization of the Longview Drive islands through the creation of native pollinator gardens. This effort is being spearheaded by the ECC Environmental Committee, chaired by ECC Director Alison Gilmore, in partnership with Greenburgh Parks and Recreation.

This project reflects the power of community volunteerism and environmental stewardship. By planting native species along the Longview Drive medians, volunteers will help create beautiful, sustainable spaces that support butterflies, birds, bees, and other important pollinators while enhancing our neighborhood streetscape.

The first volunteer planting morning will take place on Saturday, June 6, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at the island located at the intersection of Longview Drive and Fort Hill Road. Volunteers will assist with planting native species and learn more about the role pollinator gardens play in supporting local ecosystems.

Sign up is required, and participation is limited to adults.

There will also be future opportunities to assist with watering, weeding, and additional planting as the project continues to grow.

Thank you to the ECC Environmental Committee, Greenburgh Parks and Recreation, and the many volunteers helping to bring this exciting project to life. I hope many members of our community will join this effort, and I look forward to seeing many of you there.

Sincerely,
Dylan F. Pyne
President, The Edgemont Community Council
