In a letter dated January 30, 2024, Westchester County Executive George Latimer appointed Edgemont Community Council President Dylan Pyne as a member of the Westchester County Traffic Safety Board effective immediately for a term to expire December 31, 2026.
Under the Westchester County Code, the Traffic Safety Board is authorized to:
- – To promote and encourage street and highway traffic safety.

- – To cooperate with local officials within the county in the formation and execution of traffic safety programs and activities.
- – To study traffic conditions on streets and highways within the county, study and analyze reports of accidents and causes thereof, and recommend to the appropriate legislative bodies, departments or commissions, such changes in rules, orders, regulations and existing law as the board may deem advisable.
- – To conduct meetings within the county whenever and wherever the board shall deem it advisable and to invite to such meetings parties and agencies, public and private, interested in traffic regulation, control and safety education.
- – To promote safety education for drivers and pedestrians.
- – To obtain and assemble motor vehicle accident data and to analyze, study and consolidate such data for educational and informational purposes.
- – Coordinate and direct all local activities related to the implementation of the state highway safety program as approved by the Governor or his designee.
Edgemont native Dylan Pyne joined the ECC Board of Directors and has served as President since July 1, 2022, having previously served on the ECC Board of Directors from July 1, 2014, through June 30, 2019, and during that time serving at various points as Secretary, Treasurer, and Chairman of the Nominating Committee for the 2016, 2018, 2019 and 2021 Annual Meetings.
Traffic and Public Safety has been a top priority of the ECC under the leadership of Dylan Pyne. In response to long-standing concerns of Edgemont residents, further highlighted by a series of high-profile traffic accidents in the fall of 2022, the ECC launched a comprehensive traffic and pedestrian safety initiative. The first phase of this initiative between November 2022 and October 2023 involved 12 interactive, neighborhood-specific online workshops and five surveys with 632 total responses from residents. Outcomes from this initiative included advocating for safety improvements to the County portion of Ardsley Road (County Route 78), which resulted in 1.5 Million Dollars for various Ardsley Road improvements being earmarked in the Westchester County Capital Budget passed on December 11, 2023.
“Thank you, County Executive Latimer, for your trust and the opportunity to serve on the Westchester County Traffic Safety Board. I look forward to continuing to advocate for traffic safety improvements for the people of Edgemont, Greenburgh, and everybody across Westchester County,” said ECC President Dylan Pyne.
