ECC to Award 2024 Silver Bowl for Distinguished Community Service to Monica Sganga

The Edgemont Community Council award for distinguished community service has been awarded almost every year since 1950. Serving on this year’s Silver Bowl Award Committee were Alec Clarke, Jeremy Feffer, Betsy McCormack, and Tamim Nazif, with Sarah May Stern serving as Chair. After reviewing numerous nominations, the committee recommended that we present this year’s Silver Bowl to Evandale Road resident Monica Sganga for 25 years of service to the Edgemont Community.

Throughout her years in Edgemont, Monica has been an active volunteer in the schools as well as the larger community. She has served on over 18 committees of the PTA and the PTSA, and most recently served on the SBNC Rules and Procedures Revision Committee. Her past leadership positions have included Treasurer of the PTSA, Chair of the SBNC, and President of the ECC. Additionally, she served on the Board of Education for two terms, during which she was faced with the COVID-19 pandemic, developing the 2021 capital bond, and facilitating a superintendent search. During her final two years on the School Board, she served as Vice President and then President. As an active member of her church, she taught religion education for 5 years and served as Eucharistic Minister for 20 years.

Professionally, Monica is a Managing Partner of Adamo Peters, LLC, a property management firm. Prior to this, Monica spent 17 years in the technology field. She is a 1985 graduate of Miami University of Ohio, where she received a B.S. in Business Management with minors in Computer Science and Quantitative Analytics. She and her husband John have lived in Edgemont for 30 years, raising their two children, Alex (EHS ‘12) and Jonathan (EHS ‘14).

Monica currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Westchester Institute of Human Development, an organization focused on improving the lives of individuals with disabilities and at-risk children. Currently serving as Chair, in the past 8 years on the board of the WIHD she has also served as Vice Chair, Secretary, and Chair of the Development Committee.

Please join the ECC in celebrating Monica’s contributions to the community at our Annual Meeting on Wednesday, April 17 at 8PM in the Seely Place APR. Light coffee and dessert will be served at 7:30PM.
