Missing Edgemont teen Christine (Ji Woo) Kang was last seen Friday night, January 2, 2014, at around 11:15 p.m. walking south on Lexington Avenue from 42nd Street, Greenburgh Police Chief Chris McNerney said a few minutes ago.
The police, which issued a press release at 4:30 p.m., had reported she was last seen at approximately 11:10 p.m. on surveillance video “in the area of Lexington Avenue and 43d Street.” However, an hour later, Chief McNerney said he had just received an update confirming her walking south on Lexington below 42d Street.
Ms. Kang, age 16, is a junior at Edgemont High School. She left home on Robin Hill Road in Edgemont on Friday night at around 8:30 p.m. after an argument with her parents. Video surveillance showed her boarding a train at the Scarsdale Train Station at 10:18 p.m. that night and she was sighted at Grand Central at around 11 p.m.
Ms. Kang was last seen wearing a green pajama top, blue color sweatpants, and Uggs boots. Because she was not wearing a coat in the extremely cold temperature, she is considered an “endangered juvenile” and police are asking if anyone sees her to call 911 immediately.
Greenburgh police are currently working with the NYPD, the MTA Police and the Port Authority Police to try to find her.
In the meantime, at least 100 color flyers downloaded from this site were posted this evening in Grand Central in time for rush hour. Volunteers are needed to distribute flyers along the Harlem Line from Scarsdale to GCT, at GCT, and along the New Haven line up to New Haven. New locations will be posted as we get further information from the police.
