ELMSFORD LITTLE LEAGUE TEAM FEATURING SIX EDGEMONT KIDS WIN REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

A little league team in which six of its 12 kids are from Edgemont, last week beat Harrison 9-8 for the District 20 Championship – an important first step to get to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, New York.

Alex Dalal, a rising 8th grader at Edgemont Junior Senior High School, got the game winning hit as his teammates rallied from two down in the bottom of the 6th inning to drive in the winning run.

The other Edgemont kids on the team are Kirk Gialleonardo, Matt Gallousis, Michael Bowler, Christian Romero, and Dylan Burak.

District 20 consists of Ardsley, Dobbs Ferry, Eastchester, Elmsford, Harrison, Kensico, Port Chester, Rye, Rye Brook, Scarsdale, Sherman Park and White Plains.

The Elmsford team includes children from unincorporated Greenburgh ages 11 and 12 who tried out and made the traveling All Star Tournament Team.

The Elmsford Little League home field is located at Rumbrook Park in Elmsford on Route 9A.

It has been over a decade since a team from Elmsford won the District 20 Championship.

A town-wide press release this weekend from Town Supervisor Paul Feiner acknowledged the Elmsford victory.
