Please join the Edgemont Community Council, Volunteer New York!, and Edgemont High School 9th graders Maaran Song, Arjun Gupta, Shouei Yoo, and Vivaan Gupta for the 6th Annual Edgemont MLK Day Walk on Monday, January 19th from 10:00-12:30pm in the San Marco Gym at the Edgemont Jr-Sr High School.
This meaningful community tradition honors Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy of service, justice, and collective action by bringing neighbors together in reflection, movement, and hands-on service.
This year, we are excited to gather indoors before and after the walk and to introduce a family-friendly community service component for all ages. Following the walk, participants will work together on service projects including:
⮚ Sorting donated canned goods for the Thomas Slater Center
⮚ Assembling snack packs for food-insecure children through Lifting Up Westchester
⮚ Creating cards for Meals on Wheels Scarsdale to support elderly and disabled neighbors
While walk-ins are welcome, we encourage you to RSVP at https://www.volunteernewyork.org/mlk to help us plan for the service-learning portion of the morning. Registration requires creating a Volunteer New York! volunteer account, which not only allows you to register for this event but also provides access to hundreds of volunteer opportunities across Westchester County.
Families are also encouraged to bring donations such as canned tuna, cereal, oatmeal packets, mayonnaise, granola bars, and crackers.
We look forward to welcoming you to this impactful morning as we come together to honor Dr. King through service and community.
