KANG FAMILY THANKS EDGEMONT COMMUNITY FOR 'TREMENDOUS OUTPOURING OF SUPPORT'

Christine Kang Missing PSA 127c (1-8-15)The Kang family last night thanked the Edgemont community for its “tremendous outpouring of support for Christine” that it says has “enormously helped us to keep strong” and continue the search for their daughter.

The  message, issued by Christine’s parents, Min-Jong Kang and Hyeeun Rose Kwon, and distributed via email on the Edgemont School District’s email service and website states as follows:

Dear All Members of the Edgemont Family, Our family would like to express our whole-hearted thanks to all of the members of the Edgemont community. We have been, and still are, in great pain, but the tremendous outpouring of support for Christine and our family from the community have enormously helped us to keep strong and continue the pertinacious search for our daughter. We will never stop our efforts until we find her. All of your help and support has been beyond our family’s imagination. We are so proud to be a part of this amazing community. Thank you all very much!

Yesterday, more than 200 parents, teachers, students, and staff volunteered to fan out throughout Manhattan distributing more than 3000 flyers about Ms. Kang’s disappearance.

A reward of $4000 is being offered for information leading to her being found.  A Times Square billboard now puts the public on notice to call police if they see her. The telephone number for the Greenburgh police on the billboard is incorrect. Anyone spotting Ms. Kang should simply call 911.

Ms. Kang, an Edgemont junior, left home Friday evening, January 2, without a phone, money or a coat, after an argument with with a parent. She boarded a train from Scarsdale to Grand Central and was last seen last Friday night, nine days ago, walking south on Lexington Avenue, just below 42d Street.

The effort to distribute flyers was organized by Edgemont Cares, an arm of the Edgemont Community Council.  Edgemont Cares was established following Hurricane Sandy to aid Edgemont families in need.
