Dear Edgemont Neighbors,
The Nature Center at Greenburgh is one of our community’s most valuable resources. For generations, it has provided residents of all ages with opportunities to experience nature, learn about our local environment, and better understand the role each of us can play in protecting it.
Beyond its trails and beautiful grounds, the Nature Center is an important center for environmental education, conservation, volunteerism, and community connection. We are fortunate to have such a wonderful resource right here in Greenburgh, and I encourage Edgemont residents to take advantage of everything it has to offer.
There are several exciting opportunities coming up this fall:
National Public Lands Day & Welcome Center Ribbon Cutting – Saturday, September 26
This Saturday’s celebration begins at 9:30 AM with the official ribbon cutting for the new Welcome Center, followed by outdoor preserve volunteering from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Crafts and animal visits will continue from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with a puppet show at 2:00 PM.
National Public Lands Day is the nation’s largest single-day volunteer effort for public lands, and this is a great chance to help care for the 33-acre preserve while celebrating an exciting new addition to the grounds. Volunteers of all ages and experience levels are welcome.
Fall Webinar Series: Suburban Natives
Native plant educator Cathy Ludden will lead a four-part virtual series on Thursdays, October 1, 8, 15, and 22 from 7:00 to 8:00 PM.
The sessions will cover practical ways to create more sustainable and wildlife-friendly yards, from native plants and seasonal color to maintenance practices and winter interest. Recordings will be available for those unable to attend live, and participants in all four sessions are invited to a special in-person tour of the grounds.

Join the Board of Directors
The organization is also seeking community-minded leaders interested in joining its Board of Directors. Board members help provide strategic oversight, support fundraising and community engagement, and serve as ambassadors for its mission.
For residents who care about environmental education, conservation, wildlife, and strengthening community connections, this is a meaningful way to get involved and help shape the organization’s future.
