Southern Greenville Residents to Vote on SBNC Representatives on May 19, 2026

In accordance with the School Board Nominating Committee (SBNC) Rules and Procedures, the ECC Nominating Committee timely solicited and received nominations for Southern Greenville SBNC members prior to the March 3, 2026 deadline.

Because four eligible residents were nominated for three available seats, an election will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, to elect three SBNC members to represent Southern Greenville. The four nominees are Rod Burns, Jill Schwartz, Fiona Li-Weisser, and Nicole Papapostolou. Each candidate is seeking to serve on the SBNC for the first time and, if elected, will serve a two-year term.

All adult residents of the Southern Greenville neighborhood are eligible to vote in the SBNC election. In contrast to the other elections happening that day, you need not be registered to vote or a US citizen to vote in the SBNC election. Voting will take place from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM in front of the EHS Gym, outside the location where the Edgemont School District budget vote and Board of Education election will be held.

Candidate bios follow below.

Rod Burns (Southern Greenville)

Rod Burns is a lifelong resident of Edgemont with deep roots in the community and a strong commitment to supporting its schools. He attended Seely Place Elementary and graduated from Edgemont High School before returning to raise his own family here. His daughter, Gianna, graduated from Edgemont High School in 2025, and his son is currently a 4th grader at Greenville.

Rod has been an active and engaged member of the community for many years. He has coached Edgemont Flag Football for three seasons and has also coached in the Elmsford Little League, helping young athletes build confidence, teamwork, and a love of the game.

As a candidate to represent Southern Greenville on the School Board Nominating Committee, Rod brings a lifelong connection to Edgemont, firsthand experience as both an alumnus and a parent, and a genuine dedication to strengthening the partnership between families, schools, and the broader community.

Jill Schwartz (Southern Greenville)

My name is Jill Schwartz (some people know me as Jill Chesler since I never changed my Gmail ;)) and I have twin 7th graders at Edgemont Junior High School.

I am an attorney and have worked at Morgan Stanley for over 18 years in their legal division covering corporate governance and compensation matters. As a member of the Edgemont community, I’ve served on the PTA Executive Board twice, first as VP of Volunteers from 2019-2021 and then as VP of Programming from 2022-2024. I’ve also volunteered at Greenville throughout my children’s time there, including for book fairs, field days, school plays, pride day, school picture day, running CKCC for the sixth graders, serving as a class parent and helping put together last year’s yearbook.

As my children have gotten older and moved on from Greenville, I’m looking for other opportunities to volunteer for the school and use the skills I’ve developed as an attorney over the past 23+ years to help out the community. I think the School Board Nominating Committee is a great opportunity to meet other Edgemont parents and work with them to help determine the most qualified members to serve on the school board.

Fiona Li‑Weisser (Southern Greenville)

Fiona Li‑Weisser is a 9-year Southern Greenville resident and parent of two children, a daughter in EHS and a son in Greenville. She is seeking to serve on the SBNC to help identify capable, forward-looking candidates who are prepared to guide the school district as we navigate changes in our educational environment and serve the best interests of students and the broader Edgemont community.

Professionally, Fiona works full time as a Managing Director in financial services consulting where she evaluates complex issues, drives consensus and helps organizations navigate changing environments thoughtfully and responsibly. She also sits on the council Board of the Fresh Air Fund, which is a non-profit organization that provides differential summer experiences to kids from under-served communities in New York. On weekends, you might find the Weisser family on a family walk together on Bronx River Parkway paths, or volunteering at Feeding Westchester.

Fiona values transparency, inclusiveness, and community voice, and believes the quality of the candidates is more important than ever because of evolving student needs, increased expectations, and new social and economic realities.

Nicole Papapostolou (Southern Greenville)

Nicole Papapostolou has proudly called Edgemont home for the past 11 years, where she and her family have built deep roots in the community. She holds a BBA in Marketing from Hofstra University and an MBA from Boston College. Nicole also taught Marketing at Westchester Community College and has spent her professional career in the fashion industry, gaining extensive experience in digital marketing, AI implementation, budgeting, social media, public relations, and team leadership.

Beyond her professional background, Nicole is passionate about giving back to the community she loves. She serves as Director of Partnerships for Moms in Training, a local running group that raises money for Blood Cancer United, where she helps plan fundraising events and coordinates sponsorships.

Nicole’s sons, ages 10 and 8, attend Greenville Elementary School, where she has served as a class parent for several years and remains an active volunteer at PTA events, including co-chairing the Spring Fete committee. In addition, she and her husband, Paul, volunteer their time helping grow Edgemont’s local flag football program — something especially meaningful as parents of two young athletes.

Through her involvement in school and community programs, Nicole has developed a deep appreciation for what makes Edgemont special. As a member of the SBNC, she hopes to contribute thoughtfully, help shape the future of Edgemont, and ensure it continues to be a vibrant, supportive community for families like hers.
