RECENT EDGEMONT GRAD FOUND DEAD IN PANAMA

Catherine Johannet, a member of the Edgemont High School Class of 2011, was found dead yesterday in a rain forest in Panama a few days after she went missing.  Ms. Johannet, age 23, was the daughter of Alice Medalia, formerly of Club Way, and Chris Johannet, of Old Army Road.  Ms. Johannet was graduated from Columbia University in 2015 and had spent most of last year teaching in Vietnam.

Word of her disappearance spread on social media sites over the weekend as siblings Paul and Laura launched a massive search to find her.

Laura Johannet posted on Facebook last night at 6:35 p.m. that her sister had been found. “My family is thinking of all our beautiful memories with our laughing, adventurous, warm little girl.  She was also there to listen to you and just enjoy life with her loved ones.”

Funeral plans have not yet been released.

It is not known whether Ms. Johannet was a victim of foul play.
