Dear Edgemont Neighbors,
I’m writing to share an important notice from the Greenburgh Water Department regarding hydrant flushing taking place throughout Edgemont from Tuesday, October 13 through Friday, October 23, 2026, between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m.
This flushing is part of the Town’s regular maintenance program to ensure all fire hydrants are functioning properly and to help remove sediment that can build up in the water distribution system. While this work is necessary and important for maintaining water quality and emergency preparedness, it may cause temporary water discoloration and reduced water pressure in some areas.
The discoloration you may notice consists primarily of harmless silt and air and does not affect the safety of the water. However, residents are advised to check that their water is clear before doing laundry, as discolored water may cause staining. If your water becomes discolored, you can usually clear the pipes in your home by running cold water faucets for a few minutes. We also suggest keeping a small supply of clear water refrigerated for drinking and cooking.
Hydrant flushing will affect the entire Edgemont community, including the following neighborhoods and roads surrounding hydrants in these areas:

Longview Drive, Highland Road, Evandale Road, Fort Hill Road, Underhill Road, Juniper Road, Moorland Drive, Clayton Road, Hearthstone Circle, Scarsdale Farm Road, Clarendon Road, Mount Joy Avenue, Westminster Road, Paradise Drive, Argyle Avenue, Dorchester Drive, Central Park Avenue, and Ardsley Road.
