Henry Street ADA Improvements Completed Ahead of Schedule — Road Reopened

Dear Edgemont Neighbors,

I’m pleased to share that the Henry Street pedestrian and ADA improvement project at Old Army Road has been completed ahead of schedule, and Henry Street is now fully reopened to traffic.

This project is the result of sustained ECC advocacy and community feedback regarding the deteriorated, non-ADA-compliant stairs and the need for a safer pedestrian connection at Henry Street. Originally contemplated as part of the larger Old Army Road sidewalk project, the Henry Street improvement was accelerated so this important safety and accessibility issue could be addressed sooner.

The completed project replaces the old stairs with a new ADA-compliant sidewalk connection, creating a safer and more accessible route for Seely Place students and families, residents with strollers or wheelchairs, and other pedestrians.

Thank you to the Greenburgh Town Board, Town of Greenburgh Assistant Civil Engineer Aaron Harewood, Commissioner of Public Works Frank Morabito and the Department of Public Works, the Greenburgh Police Department and Sgt. Benjamin Fontanilles, and everyone else who helped move this project from planning through completion.

Thank you also to the residents and families who were patient with the road closure and temporary inconvenience during construction.

It is great to see another ECC pedestrian-safety priority completed and Henry Street back open ahead of schedule.
