ECC Ardsley Road Priorities Included in 2024 Westchester County Capital Budget

On September 14th of last year, the Edgemont Community Council and its Traffic, Sidewalk, and Safety Committee submitted an open letter to the Greenburgh Town Board requesting its support of the ECC’s efforts to have safety improvements made to the County portion of Ardsley Road (County Route 78). The Greenburgh Town Board joined the ECC in this effort by submitting a letter of support to County Executive George Latimer on October 2, 2023.

In response to this advocacy and the efforts of Edgemont’s County Legislator David Imamura, three priorities identified by the Ardsley Road team in the ECC’s October 2023 Traffic and Safety Report were included in the Westchester County Capital Budget passed on December 11, 2023.

– $500,000: A study to evaluate the safety of the existing crosswalks at Edgemont Road and Lynwood Road and the viability and safety of adding new crosswalks at the Ardsley Road/Old Army intersection,

– $500,000: Ardsley Road and Edgemont Road drainage study

– $500,000: A study to evaluate the safety of the Ardsley Road/Seely Place crossing and the viability and safety of adding a new crosswalk at Ardsley Road/Greenville Church

The ECC thanks the Greenburgh Town Board, County Executive Latimer, and County Legislator David Imamura for their support of these initiatives and looks forward to continuing to partner to see these and other ECC safety priorities come to fruition.

Sincerely,
Dylan Pyne
President, The Edgemont Community Council
