Greenburgh Police Chief Chris McNerney has just issued a letter to all Edgemont residents stating that missing Edgemont teen Christine (Jiwoo) Kang left home Friday evening after a disagreement with a parent and is considered a “runaway.”
“There is no reason to believe that the community is at risk,” Chief McNerney said. “Students, parents and school officials are advised that we will be continuing to search the immediate area of Robin Hill road and the surrounding streets. This may include a temporary police presence at the Edgemont Schools,” he added.
“We are asking for everyone’s help in locating Christine. If you know anything about Christine’s recent activity (prior to and after her going missing) please call the police department at 914-989-1700. Callers can remain anonymous.”
The Edgemont School District has meanwhile posted the following statement on its website:
“Please know that the Greenburgh Police Department is collaborating with several different law enforcement agencies in searching for Christine Kang. Christine is being actively investigated as a missing person/runaway. She has been in the Missing Persons State-wide Clearing House since Saturday. The police have been and are conducting area searches on foot and by helicopter. The police media department is also preparing public flyers for distribution.”
Ms. Kang, an Edgemont High School junior, is about 5-feet-6, 120 pounds with long black hair. She last was seen wearing a mint-green flannel shirt, white pajama pants with a pink and green snowflake design, a pair of Ugg boots and no coat.
