NO UPDATE YET ON MISSING EDGEMONT TEEN, MORE INFORMATION EXPECTED SHORTLY

Christine Jiwoo KangThere is no further update yet on the search for missing Edgemont junior Christine Kang, but school officials are meeting with Greenburgh police right now at Edgemont Junior Senior High School and a further update from them is expected shortly.  It will be posted as soon as it becomes available.

In the meantime, there is a substantial police and media presence right now on the high school campus, and helicopters are circulating overhead.  Classes, however, remain in session.

Ms. Kang went missing Friday, January 2, 2015 at 8 p.m. when she left her home on Robin Hill Road.  Word of her disappearance began to circulate among her classmates over the weekend and school and police officials last night confirmed that she was missing.

Anyone with any information is urged to call Greenburgh police directly at (914) 682-5300 or the new number, effective today, which is (914) 989-1700.  All calls to the old number will still work.

The following letter was sent to all Edgemont parents and guardians this morning at 10:30 a.m. by school superintendent Victoria Kniewel and EHS principal Devan Ganeshananthan.

“Dear Parents and Guardians,

Unfortunately, we have no update regarding Christine Kang at this time.  This is understandably a challenging situation for the Edgemont community.  Please find below a link from the National Association of School Psychologists.  Many parts of the attached link are appropriate for discussions with your children.  Please feel free to reach out to guidance counselors, school psychologists, and administrators at the school with additional questions.
