Vote Today: 2026 Edgemont School Budget & Trustee Election (6 AM–9 PM)

Polls are open today, Tuesday, May 19, from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Edgemont Jr./Sr. High School San Marco Gymnasium for the annual School District budget vote and Board of Education election.

This year’s ballot includes four propositions:

Proposition 1: Adoption of the 2026–2027 school budget in the amount of $77,409,438, including a tax levy of $64,229,035. A summary of the budget was presented at the ECC/PTA/PTSA Edgemont UFSD Budget Information Session on April 30; a recording is available here.

Proposition 2: Authorization to expend $3.25 million from the 2023 Capital Reserve to fund capital projects. This proposition would have no impact on the tax levy.

Proposition 3: Authorization to establish a new Capital Reserve not to exceed $7.5 million to fund future capital projects. This proposition would also have no impact on the tax levy.

Proposition 4: Election of two members to the seven-member Edgemont Board of Education for three-year terms expiring June 30, 2029. Two candidates are on the ballot, both recommended by the School Board Nominating Committee: incumbent Heather Stern and first-time candidate Suri Singh.

If you still have an absentee ballot, it must be received by the District Office (300 White Oak Lane, Scarsdale) by 5:00 p.m. today.

Separately, and independent from the Edgemont Union Free School District budget vote and Board of Education election, the Edgemont Community Council is conducting an election for Southern Greenville representatives to the School Board Nominating Committee (SBNC), in accordance with the SBNC Rules and Procedures.

The SBNC is sponsored by the ECC and is not affiliated with the Edgemont Union Free School District or the Edgemont Board of Education.

Because four eligible Southern Greenville residents were nominated for three available seats, an election is being held today from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Eligible Southern Greenville residents may vote at the SBNC polling location at the corner of Bittersweet Lane and White Oak Lane, just past Bittersweet as you’re leaving the Edgemont High School parking lot. The four nominees — Rod Burns, Jill Chesler Schwartz, Fiona Li-Weisser, and Nicole Papapostolou — are each seeking to serve on the SBNC for the first time and, if elected, would serve two-year terms. Candidate bios are available here.
